I want to publish more, but I’ve been so busy with planning our move, our wedding, and our honeymoon. We excel at making our lives more complicated and difficult than they need to be. In a little over a month we will be moving and staying with my in-laws, which means traveling across the country once again (my 4th time), and then getting married two weeks later, going on our honeymoon, coming back and looking for new employment so we can then move again, a little north of where my in-laws live. My spare time has been spent reading, working out, and meditating.
An Evening with Bill Nye
For A’s birthday, I bought him tickets to go see Bill Nye. The event was sponsored by the Mount St. Helen’s Institute and took place on the anniversary of the Mount St. Helen eruption. The majority of the event was talking about climate change, and just offered a lot of insights.
Meditating outdoorsย
Meditation has been crucial in my life. The major advantages I have experienced are finding clarity in moments of uneasiness, whether it stems from emotional pain, anxiety, stress, physical discomforts, sadness, or anger…It helps me find an inner calm and will an understanding that whatever I’m feeling isn’t as damaging as it may appear to me right now. It’s alright, and everything can be worked out. I’m quite neurotic and have a tendency to obsess over thoughts and past experiences. Mediation has helped mend my heart and be better to myself. I use the Calm app for meditation, and the app is great, because it provides different tones to listen to in the background of your guided meditation, but I always imagine sitting in the sunshine, under some trees, and listening to the birds chirp, or water moving nearby. When I get to actually practice in the outdoors, it adds a whole new element.
I’m going to be spending some time this week writing about my anxiety and depression, and how it manifests in different ways. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety lately, and because of a combination of different elements, and think it may be cathartic to address them in a post or posts.
